A bartendress was on Friday charged and remanded to prison for the murder of 23-year-old Carol Davidson, a security guard of East La Penitence Squatting Area, Georgetown.
Shamirika Gibson of North East La Penitence, Georgetown appeared before Senior Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
She was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on June 6, 2022, at East Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown, she murdered Davidson, a mother of two.
She was remanded to prison until June 21, 2022.
According to information, on June 5, 2022, Davidson had a misunderstanding with Gibson which led to a fight.
However, the following day, at around 10:00 hrs, the woman was “drinking” with a group of friends in a yard in the vicinity of Brickdam Secondary School bridge, when Gibson and three others attacked her with several pieces of wood.
The victim managed to escape by running around a house which was in the said yard but was pursued by the three women and a man. However, Gibson who was later seen with a knife in her right hand, along with the others ran out of the yard making good their escape.
Davidson then found lying face down on the ground with a suspected stab wound in her chest area. She was then picked up in an unconscious state and immediately taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where she pronounced her dead on arrival.
The matter was then reported and following an investigation, Gibson was arrested and prosecuted.
