The body of Simon Jones, a 19-year-old man of Victoria, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was fished out of the Ekeruku River, Region Seven on Tuesday.
Police Headquarters reported that the young man drowned while attempting to swim from the right bank to the left bank of the river.
At about 10:00hrs on Tuesday, three gold miners from the area discovered the teen’s body floating in the river. Jones’ body will be transported to Georgetown for a post mortem examination.
