Youth wanted for Rosignol murder captured in Mibicuri Backlands


Shane Samaroo called ‘Tanta Boy’, 20, a labourer of Rosignol Village, West Coast  Berbice (WCB), who was wanted for murder in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), has been captured.

At about 07:00 hours on Sunday, Police ranks acting on information carried out a search at Mibicuri Backlands, Corentyne, Berbice, for the wanted man.

He was arrested along with a female who is expected to be charged with harbouring him. They were both escorted to the Central Police Station where they remain in custody.

Initial reports state that Samaroo allegedly murdered Faroze Khan called ‘Eggy’ of Carriage Road, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice (WBB).

The man died on August 19, last, after he was beaten with a piece of wood and stabbed by Samaroo, while leaving a shop in his neighbourhood. 

According to reports, at around 14:00 hrs, Khan was at a grocery shop at Bennet Dam, Rosignol when Samaroo entered and purchased a bottle of water after which he left.

However, as Khan was leaving the shop, Samaroo rushed towards him with a piece of wood and dealt him several lashes about his body.

After Khan fell to the ground, Samaroo pulled out a knife from the waist of his pants and dealt him a stab. 

The injured man was picked up by the Police and escorted to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
