An unidentified man is now suffering from a fractured skull following a hit-and-run accident at Main Street, New Amsterdam Berbice. This publication understands that the accident occurred at about 7:00 hrs last night.
Reports are that an unknown motor vehicle was proceeding north on the western drive lane on Main Street New Amsterdam at an alleged fast rate of speed when the pedestrian was crossing from west to east on the road.
The motor vehicle collided with the pedestrian, which resulted in him being thrown onto the windshield then onto the road surface, where he received injuries to his body.
The victim was picked up in an unconscious condition by the ranks of the Fire Service and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor.
He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was further seen and examined by a doctor on duty and later admitted as a patient suffering from a fractured skull. His condition is regarded as serious. An investigation is in progress.
