Two women beaten and robbed by gunmen at WBD home

A 29-year-old waitress and a 20-year-old cashier were on Tuesday night beaten and robbed of a quantity of articles by two armed men at their La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) residence. A Police report said that the robbery occurred at around 21:00 hours.

Police Headquarters reported that the victims were robbed of a grey and black Samsung Galaxy electronic tablet valued at $40,000; a silver iPad in a brown case for which the value is unknown; a rose gold iPhone 8 Plus valued at $140,000; a peach coloured purse containing an identification card, Republic Bank card, National Insurance Scheme (NIS) card and $15,000 in cash.

According to the Police, the women were at home when one of them went into the veranda from where she saw two unidentifiable males- who were armed with a gun and a knife- approaching her. As such, she began screaming causing the suspect who was armed with the gun to fire a shot in her direction. He then pulled her into the house where he demanded her to hand over money, while he picked up the iPhone, iPad, tablet, and other items mentioned above.

The suspect then dealt the woman a lash to her forehead with the gun causing her to receive injuries. The other victim, upon seeing what was transpiring, handed over the other items to the suspects who later escaped through the veranda door.
