Two soldiers, businessman charged after $745M in fuel stolen from GDF

Two serving members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and a businessman, were on Thursday, charged with stealing over $745 million worth in fuel from the GDF.

Those charged are GDF ranks: Terry Milling, 35, of 440 South Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown; and Delon Wilson, 34, of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, and businessman, Gangadeo Sridat, 48, of New Road, Vreed-En-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

The trio appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrates’ Courts.

The men pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between January 1, 2015, and June 30, 2020, at Guyoil Terminal, Providence, East Bank Demerara, (EBD), they conspired together with persons unknown to steal fuel valued at $745,559,430, property of the GDF.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that Milling and Wilson were responsible for procuring fuel on behalf of the GDF from Guyoil.

However, an audit was recently conducted and it was discovered that between January 1, 2015, and June 30, 2020, the GDF did not receive fuel amounting to $745M.  As such, investigations were done and charges were recommended for the soldiers and businessmen.

The three accused were each released on $300,000 bail each. They were instructed to make their next court appearance on January 27, 2022.

Charged: Delon Wilson
