Tuschen man arrested with over $113M worth in cocaine

Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) ranks on Saturday night arrested Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) resident, Ryan Da Silva with over 38 pounds of cocaine valued at $113.1M.

CANU ranks acting on information conducted narcotics operations in the Tuschen-Parika area, EBE. During the operations, a motor vehicle with sole occupant was stopped and searched, resulting in the discovery of 15 brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine.

Da Silva was arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters. At CANU headquarters, the parcels were tested and proven to be cocaine. With a total weight of 17.4 kilogrammes (38.3 lbs), the illicit drug has a street value of $113, 160, 000 (US$552,000).

Investigations are continuing.
