An 18-year-old man of Lot 20 Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara (ECD) lost his life during the wee hours of Saturday after the speeding motorcar in which he was travelling ran off the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, ECD. Dead is Sudesh Mahadeo.
The accident involved motor car PKK 2362, owned by Shiraz Ali of Lot 18 Blossom Scheme, Enmore, ECD, and driven at the time by a male, whose name and address are so far unknown.
Besides Mahadeo and the unidentified man, Komal Rewtie, 19, also of Bee Hive, ECD was the other occupant of the vehicle. Mahadeo was seated in the left front passenger seat, while Rewtie occupied the rear passenger seat.
Enquiries disclosed that the car was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of Le Ressouvenir Public Road, at a fast rate of speed, when the driver lost control of it. In the process, the vehicle spun twice and collided with a concrete fence just off the road’s northern edge.
As a result, Mahadeo was flung through the front windshield and onto the road surface. He was found lying motionless whilst the driver and other occupants were stuck in the vehicle.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene, where the doctor pronounced Mahadeo dead. His body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy.
The driver was admitted as a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition. Investigations are in progress.
