Six arrested following discovery of gun, ammo

Fives males and one female were arrested on Friday following the discovery of a gun and ammunition at a Bourda Street, Lacytown, Georgetown house where they were gathered.

Police ranks went to the property where they met the suspects. After the ranks informed them of their reason for being there, a 19-year-old man identified himself as the caretaker for the property.

The ranks then requested to search the property and he gave permission. As a result, the suspects were taken into the house. During a search of a bedroom, ranks found a suspected air pistol inside a cardboard box.

In addition, 10 12 gauge cartridges, 31.45 rounds, 14 .38 rounds, and 49 M15 rounds were found in the kitchen area. They were told of the offences committed and cautioned in accordance with the Judge’s rules.

They denied ownership of the gun and ammunition. They were all arrested and placed into custody.  The suspected air pistol and ammunition are presently lodged. Investigations are ongoing.
