Sisters remanded to prison over marijuana found in their apartment


Two sisters, 19-year-old Timhara Evana and 24-year-old Shantell Evans, were today remanded to prison after being busted with over 500 grams of marijuana at their apartment in Albouystown, Georgetown. 

The duo was hauled before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge. 

The charge alleged that on July 14, 2021, they had 518.07 grams in their possession for the purpose of trafficking. They were both remanded to prison until August 20, 2021.

The court heard that the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Wednesday conducted a search on an apartment located at Lot 169 James Street, Albouystown. 

Two black plastic bags containing ganja, weighing 518.07 grams, along with a small scale, were discovered during the search. The two women who were the only occupants at the apartment were arrested.
