Relatives of slain biker Ricardo Fagundes on Tuesday evening staged another protest in front of the popular nightclub Palm Court on Main Street, Georgetown calling for justice. Close to two dozen persons, some of whom were armed with placards called on the Police Force to solve his murder.

Six months after the 42-year-old better known as ‘Paper Shorts’ was killed in a hail of bullets outside the nightclub, no charges have been laid. In April, the Police had arrested former murder convict Rondell Bacchus for the execution-style killing but later released him.

Fagundes, a gold dealer, of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown was riddled with bullets on March 21, 2021, by two men at the intersection of Middle and Main Streets, Georgetown just outside Palm Court. A post mortem examination revealed that he received over 20 gunshot wounds.

In fact, it revealed that he sustained 14 bullets wounds to the legs, one each to his ear and upper head, five to his shoulder and arms, and several other gunshot wounds to his abdomen.

A CCTV footage from Palm Court revealed two men exiting a white wagon and opening fire on Fagundes with what seems to be a handgun and a high-powered assault rifle.

The men opened fire on Fagundes after he had exited Palm Court, crossed the western carriageway of Main Street, and was heading in a northern direction towards Middle Street.

The gunmen exited the car which was parked on the eastern carriageway of Main Street, through the left side front passenger door and back right side door, at which time they opened fire on Fagundes while converging on him from two different directions.

As if falling to the ground motionless was not enough, the hitmen while making good their escape briefly returned and pumped more bullets into Fagundes’ body. The gunmen then re-entered the car they had arrived in and sped away in a southern direction towards the Bank of Guyana.

One witness who was at the scene just moments after the shooting told this publication that he could have only made out PZZ on the number plate of the getaway car.

Just one night after the killing, a similar model and color motorcar was found burnt at Swan on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
