A 33-year-old man was on Thursday granted $100,000 bail after being slapped with a rape charge. Kataka Kellman of Kwakwani, Upper Berbice River, appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
Kellman was arrested and charged for the offence of rape which occurred between May 13, 2021, and May 14, 2021. The charge was laid under section 3 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act Chapter 8:03
The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He was released on $100,000 bail with instructions to make his next court appearance on December 28, 2021, for statements.
