Sarena Aruna Razak of Queen’s College is Guyana’s top performer at the 2021 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination which is administered by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC). She attained 19 Grade One passes, two Grade Two passes, and a Grade Three pass.
The Education Ministry on Friday announced the results of the 2021 CSEC and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE)-which is also administered by CXC. Seventy-five per cent of the 9, 808 candidates who wrote this year’s CSEC examination secured Grade One to Grade Three passes.
Education Minister Priya Manickchand noted, however, that CXC is still undergoing reviews and results may be subjected to change. In October, CXC announced that Guyana’s overall CSEC performance was higher than the regional average of 66 per cent. The examining body also said that students from Guyana topped 20 of the 33 subjects written at the CSEC examination.
