Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), Hon. Mark Phillips, on Friday, bowled off the Prime Minister Softball Cup, which is expected to be played over the next three days at various venues in Georgetown: on the East Coast and East Bank of Demerara.

Prior to the official start of the fifth edition of the competition, the Prime Minister met members from the 20 competing teams and officials at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground in Woolford Avenue.

He urged the teams to adhere to the COVID-19 regulations and challenged them to be disciplined in the field while playing in a spirit of camaraderie.

The Prime Minister, who is a cricket fan, both bowled and batted during the opening ceremony.

The finals of the event will be played on Sunday at the Guyana National Stadium.
