President Ali promises Joint Services ranks better salaries

President Dr Irfaan Ali has reassured graduates of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) courses, that his Government will lead the charge to ensure their welfare, salaries and lives reflect the dignity, honour and pride that come with their uniform. 

President Ali, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, made the remarks while delivering the feature address at the GDF Commissioning Parade for the Standard Officers’ Course (SOC) 53 and Reserve Officers’ Course (ROC) 17 at Camp Ayanganna on Wednesday.

The courses were completed by 67 ranks, including members of the Joint Services. Of the 27 graduates from the SOC, 19 were from the GDF, four from the Guyana Police Force and two each from the Guyana Prison Service and the Guyana Fire Service.

Forty cadets did the ROC 17. 

Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; Chief of Staff of the GDF Brigadier Godfrey Bess; Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken; National Security Advisor, Captain Gerry Gouveia and other Government representatives were also at the event.
