Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the body of a man that was found at South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) at around 14:05 hours on Wednesday.
Ten minutes before the discovery, an anonymous caller had contacted the Sparendaam Police Station via telephone and reported that a corpse was seen.
On arrival at the location, Police ranks saw a man of African descent whose identification is unknown at this time. The man reportedly did odd jobs in the area and had no fixed place of abode.
He was found lying on his back with severe sunburn. The body was examined and an open wound measuring six inches was observed on the left thigh.
The body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where it was officially pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home awaiting identification and a post mortem examination.
