Murdered Hindu priest died of fractured skull, brain hemorrhage

An autopsy which was conducted on the remains of 60-year-old Hindu priest, Rishi Bharat revealed that he died of a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage. A post mortem examination was conducted on the man’s remains on Wednesday by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.

According to an initial report,  11 men have been arrested by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for allegedly murdering Bharat called “Haribole” last week Saturday at his Lot 10 Grant, 1806 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, residence.

They Break News understands that the men were in front of Bharat’s premises imbibing and using foul language.  Bharrat then went out to the men with a piece of wood and told them to remove from in front of his premises. This reportedly angered the drunken men who armed themselves with a piece of wood and began lashing the priest about his body.

The injured man collapsed to the ground. He was picked up by his relatives in an unconscious state and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  Nevertheless, the suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into Police custody.

Additionally, ranks of the Berbice Police Division visited the family of the murdered priest and expressed condolences. Bharat’s body has since been handed over to his relatives.
