Over 16 households in Burma, Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) will enjoy hassle-free access to their communities as roadworks on Champagne Road conclude.
Last month, the Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar met with the new contractor, Timehri Contracting, to emphasise the need for the roadworks to be conducted efficiently in line with the Ministry’s specifications.
Valued at $64 Million, the fully rehabilitated thoroughfare measures 964m in length, by 12 ft in width and is made of asphaltic concrete.
Though the project was initially tendered in 2019, it was terminated this year due to the contractor’s poor performance.
Minister Indar had engaged the residents, regional officials and community leaders on the works to be executed under the new contract.
