Relative to the media reports/social media posts surrounding the disappearance of 14-year-old Erica Lall,

who went ‘missing’ from her East Coast Demerara home last week Tuesday, the girl is safe and currently in the care of officials at the Child Care and Protection Agency.

Commander for Regional Division 4 ‘C’, Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram has confirmed that around 16:00 hrs on Saturday, April 23, 2022, 19-year-old Sharda James of Mobalissa Bridge, Soesdyke-Linden Highway brought the ‘missing’ girl to the Cove and John Police Station, East Coast Demerara.

Commander Pareshram said the teen was interviewed by the Police and stated that when she left her mother’s home on the East Coast of Demerara, she went to James’ house on the Linden Highway, unknowing to her mother whom she accused of abusing her.

The teen further stated that she got the direction to where James and her 17-year-old sister are living from someone (name withheld) whom she met on Facebook and who also lives close to the sisters.

The teen said she called her mother on the night that ‘she ran away’ and her mother argued with her. The 14-year-old said she decided not to call or answer her mother after that.

Following the series of posts and claims on social media surrounding her  ‘disappearance’, the 14-year-old girl decided to go to the Police accompanied by James. After the Police took her statement, officials from the Child Care and Protection Agency were called in. The teen remains in the care of officials there.
