Minister of Religion robbed of gold chain, artificial band


A 68-year-old Minister of Religion was on Tuesdayrobbed of a gold chain and an artificial band by two men at Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

They Break News understands that the victim was walking north on Breda Street, informing residents in the area about the free wifi internet service, which will be offered to residents of Leopold, Cross, and Breda Streets, Werk-En-Rust by the Methodist Church. 

At the time, he was wearing one gold chain valued at $65,000 and an artificial band valued at $24,000. 

While he was conversing with a female, he was confronted by the men who told him to give them the chain. The man became fearful, and the suspects held on to him. A scuffle ensued between them and the suspected relieved the man of his belongings.

They made their escape on foot in a western direction.  An alarm was raised and quick response from the Police resulted in the two suspects being arrested. However, in the process of arresting the suspects who are ages 20 and 24 for the alleged offence, a scuffle ensued between them and a Police rank.

One of the suspects held on to the policeman’s firearm trying to disarm him.  The firearm dislodged and Police Constable Cordell Kendall was shot in his left thigh.  The injured Police rank is presently recovering at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital. Investigations are in progress.
