Men run away leaving 32 pounds of marijuana behind after seeing Police

The Guyana Police Force is investigating an incident in which two men ditched a quantity of marijuana and ran away after spotting Police ranks. The incident occurred around 11:15 h on Wednesday at Parker Street, Providence, East Bank Demerara.

According to a Police release,  ranks were on motorcycle patrol at Parker Street, Providence, when they observed two men standing at a koker with a bulky black plastic bag in each of their hands.  Upon seeing the Police ranks, they began to act suspiciously.

The ranks proceeded in the direction of the men who then threw the bags into a nearby clump of bushes and escaped on foot. The ranks retrieved the bags and upon examination observed the contents to be several blue, white, pink, and transparent plastic bags containing cannabis sativa.

The suspected narcotics were taken to the Golden Grove Police Station where it was weighed and amounted to 14.497 kilogrammes which is equivalent to 32 pounds. Investigations are ongoing.
