Mechanic gunned down in Sophia by “Brainer” and “Double Clip”

The 21-year-old mechanic that was shot and killed, Jaleel Leow

A mechanic was on Monday afternoon gunned down in ‘B’ Field Sophia, Georgetown. 

The dead man has been identified as 21-year-old Jaleel Leow of Dennis Street Campville, Georgetown. 

According to the Police, one Felicia Thom, a female shopkeeper of Lot 703 ‘B’ Field Sophia, East Coast Demerara (ECD), is currently sharing a relationship with 20-year-old Nigel Williams, a mechanic of the said address. 

On Monday at about 17:50 hrs, she along with him, the deceased and one Brandon Smith, 23, a mechanic of ‘B’ Field Sophia and two other friends were liming on the ‘B’ Field Sophia Access Road in front of her residence when the two suspects approached them from a southern direction on two gent’s mountain bicycles.

The suspects both dismounted the bicycles, and the one who was armed with two cutlasses went up to Felicia and said “Is problem you want.” 

Felicia responded in the negative, and she and the party began to walk away into her yard. 

The other suspect then pulled out a handgun from the waist of his pants and walked up to the now-deceased who was walking into the yard and discharged two rounds which struct him to his right upper back, and he fell to the ground.

The gunman discharged two more rounds at him on the ground hitting him to his upper chest. The now-deceased got up and ran to the back of the yard where he collapsed. 

The shooter then fired another shot at Brandon Smith who was standing by the roadside, which grazed him to his right upper hand, but he fled the scene. 

The shooter and his accomplice then mounted their bicycles and made good their escape. 

The now deceased and Brandon were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by Thom, where Leow was pronounced dead. The body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).

Smith was treated and sent away. However, checks were made for the suspects, but they were not seen. 

As a result, a manhunt has been launched to locate the suspects –  “Big John” or “Double Clip” and  “Brainer.”
