A 26-year-old mechanic was on Wednesday slapped with nine charges including four counts of sexual activity with a child. Delroy Benjamin of Andyville, Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
He was charged with four counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16; escaping from lawful custody; unlicensed driver; uncertified motor vehicle; and uninsured motor vehicle. He was not required to plea to the indictable charges for the sexual offence. He was remanded to prison until January 6, 2022.
He pleaded not guilty to the traffic offences and was released on $20,000 bail.
