Man reportedly flees to Suriname after stabbing fisherman

A 22-year-old man has reportedly fled to neighbouring Suriname after stabbing a fisherman. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Kelvin Kewley called ‘Kello’ of 12 Number 65 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

A Police report said the incident occurred on Monday at around 8:00h.  They Break News understands that Kewley and the suspect are known to each other. 

At the time of the incident, they were both on a fishing boat at the Number 65 Village Koker, when an argument ensued. The suspect used a sharp object and stabbed Kewley to the mid-section of his chest and on his left hand. The injured man was rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital by his brother, Melven Kewley.

Kelvin Kewley was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient.  Police said the suspect has reportedly fled to Suriname. Investigations are ongoing.
