Sudesh Charran, 22, a labourer of Lot 3964 Westminister, West Bank Demerara is now dead after an overhead metal lift fell on him. A Police report said that on Sunday, Charran was walking under a metal lift to go into the F&R Supermarket at 29 Stelling Road, Vreed-En-Hoop, West Coast Demerara when it fell from the upper flat and pinned him to the ground.
As a result, workers rushed to his assistance and used a piece of wood and jack and remove the metal lift from off of him. They then managed to pull the victim out but by this time he was motionless and a large wound was seen to the top of his head. Police ranks were summoned to the scene.
The injured man was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is presently lying at the Ezekiel Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination. Investigations are in progress.
