Quacy Jupiter and David Smith- the two suspects in the murder of 19-year-old Joshua Danny who were shot dead last Saturday by Police are now being accused of robbing a man of his motorcycle. The robbery allegedly occurred on September 27 at Campbellville, Georgetown, three days before Danny, a young electrician was shot and killed during a robbery at Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Police said that the victim visited the Police Station and reported that he was robbed on September 27 at about 19:30 hrs of $25,000 cash, a Samsung Galaxy A20 phone valued at $28,000, and his black HAOJUE UF-115 motorcycle bearing registration number CK 8784 valued at $200,000.
The victim said he was beaten by Jupiter and Smith during the robbery and he sustained injuries to his lower abdomen. He stated that after the images of Jupiter and Smith were released by the Police on social media, he recognized his motorcycle and immediately made a report at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost. He was shown the Samsung Galaxy cellphone retrieved from Jupiter along with the motorcycle. He identified both items as his belongings.
Jupiter called ‘Ding Docker’ and Smith called ‘Burlyn’ were fatally shot by the Police during a confrontation last Saturday evening in the vicinity of the University of Guyana Access Road, Greater Georgetown. Danny, 19, was shot dead during a robbery last Thursday at Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and was, during the process, relieved of an 18 pennyweights gold chain valued at $170,000.
Danny was shot and killed at around 06:00 h a short distance away from his home. At the time of the incident, he was walking on Mittleholzer Street heading in a southern direction to catch transportation on Aubrey Barker Road to go to work. It was alleged by a witness that at 06:00 h, he heard two loud explosions, suspected to be gunshots. The man related that when he looked through a window, he saw Danny standing on a street shouting that he was just shot.
According to the witness, he also saw a male running in a southern direction on the said street before turning west on a cross street. The witness said the male then jumped on a waiting motorcycle (registration number unknown at the time) with another male and they both rode away in a western direction.
The witness said that a crowd then gathered at the spot where the now dead man was shot and he went outside and saw the injured man bleeding from a suspected gunshot wound to his chest and right hand. Danny was picked up and rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. His body was examined and two gunshot wounds were seen- one to his right upper chest and the other to his right upper hand at the back of the muscle area.
