Man hospitalised after attempting to rescue woman from assault

Thirty-six-year-old Keno Griffith, a labourer of Old Kara Kara, Mackenzie Linden, is now a patient at the Linden Complex nursing injuries he received after attempting to rescue a woman whom a 26-year-old man was assaulting.

The incident occurred on Monday at 17:00hrs at Kara Kara, Mackenzie Linden.

Reports are that on the day in question, the suspect and a female resident of the community had a misunderstanding.

During that misunderstanding, the suspect squeezed her breast, and she spat on him. The suspect became annoyed, and he threw a bucket of water on her.

As such, Griffith went to her assistance, but an argument ensued between him and the suspect, which resulted in a scuffle.

The suspect then armed himself with a cutlass and dealt the victim a chop to his arm and one to his head.

He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was seen and examined by the doctor on duty and admitted as a patient in a stable condition.

After leaving the scene, the suspect went to Linden Police Station to report the matter and was arrested. He was then placed in custody pending further investigations.
