Man and woman arrested after 26 grammes of cocaine found in yard


A 45-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were on Monday busted with 26 grammes of cocaine in Beehive, East Coast Demerara at around 10:45h. 

Acting on information, a party of policemen went to a home at Beehive, East Coast Demerara to effect an arrest on a 30-year-old male who is wanted for alleged threatening language.

On approaching the house,  a male and a female were seen at the property. As the Police approached them, the male was seen throwing something into the yard. 

As a result, a search was conducted and a green plastic bag containing two pieces of creamish hard, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine was found at the northern side of the yard.

The discovery was brought to their attention and they denied knowledge. The female was arrested and escorted to Cove and John Police Station along with the suspected drugs. 

The male escaped, leaving his vehicle abandoned but subsequently came to Cove and John Police Station where he was placed in custody. 

The suspected drugs were weighed in their presence and amounted to 26 grammes 

They were both told of the allegation and cautioned. They are presently in Police custody.
