Man, 59, dies after slamming car into trailer at BV

A 59-year-old man is now dead after he lost control of the motorcar he was driving and slammed into a trailer on Tuesday at Beterverwagting Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara. 

Dead is Charles Roberts of Lot 50 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

Police Headquarters said the man was driving motorcar PRR 1050. He collided with trailer THH 9834 that was attached to motor lorry GHH 2829. The accident occurred at around 15:15 h.

They Break News understands that the motorcar was proceeding west along the southern drive lane of Beterverwagting Railway Embankment. 

It is alleged that Roberts lost control of the motorcar and collided with the left side rear of trailer which was attached to the motor laorry that was stationary on the northern grass parapet. 

As a result of the collision, he received injuries to his body. He was removed from his vehicle by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious state and was transported to Georgetown Public Hospital.

He was pronounced dead on arrival. 

His body is presently lying at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. The Police Force has since launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the fatal incident.
