Logger remanded on murder charge


A logger who is accused of slitting a young man’s throat was on Monday remanded to prison on a murder charge.

26-year-old Marlon LaRose of Maria Henrietta, Upper Berbice River, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

LaRose was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between September 12, 2021, and September 13, 2021, at Wiruni, Upper Demerara River, he murdered 23-year-old Kevin Hercules. He was remanded to prison until October 15, 2021.

According to reports, Hercules’ body was found floating in the Wiruni River, Upper Berbice with what appeared to be marks of violence. The matter was reported to the Police and following an investigation, Larose was arrested and charged.
