Thirty-six-year-old Lot 46 Ujamma Housing Scheme, La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara (ECD) businessman, Quincy Roache, was on Tuesday, remanded to prison for the murder of his reputed wife.
Roache was arraigned before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts.
He was not required to pleaded to the indictable charge which stated that on August 27, he murdered 28-year-old Tacina Dazzle, a mother of one.
He was remanded to prison until October 14.
Shortly after stabbing the woman, Roache walked into the Turkeyen Police Station and surrendered himself to the Police.
Police Headquarters said that Dazzle, a housewife of the aforementioned address, was stabbed about 13 times at around 23:35h last week Friday.
Enquiries disclosed that Dazzle and Roache, a businessman, shared a common law relationship and they would often have domestic issues.
However, the woman never made any report to the Police regarding this.
On the date and time mentioned, her cousin, a 33-year-old secretary of the said area, who was also her neighbour, was awoken by the screams of her relative.
As a result, she immediately opened her door and upon doing so, she saw Dazzle cousin running out of her yard and on to her bridge where she fell and laid motionless.
Roache then exited the house and joined a minibus and made good his escape heading in the northern direction. The body of Dazzle was examined and stab injuries were seen.
She was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
After the stabbing, Roache later went to the Turkeyen Police Station where he was arrested and escorted to the Sparendaam Police Station.
