Oyama Patterson, a 23-year-old security guard of Hardina Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, was on Friday, remanded to prison for the capital offence of murder.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on November 11, he murdered 53-year-old Dexter Mc Farlene, a construction worker.
The murder accused is due back in court on November 29.
Mc Farlene, lost his life tragically three Fridays ago after he was struck by a stray bullet at Second Bridge, Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
They Break News understands that the man had just exited a minibus and was making his way home through a shortcut, when he was hit by a stray bullet.
At the time of the incident, several young men were reportedly shooting at each other. According to reports, the shooting stemmed from an old grievance.
McFarlane’s body bore a gunshot wound to the left side chest.
Earlier this week, Police Headquarters reported that a 16-year-old boy of Albouystown, Georgetown and Patterson were arrested in Corentyne, Berbice for the killing.
The juvenile will be brought before a magistrate on Monday.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Tuesday issued a wanted bulletin for Andrew Ridley called “Aids Man” in connection with the murder of the 53-year-old man.
Ridely, 30, is last known to be residing at Lot 173 Campbell Street, Albouystown, Georgetown. He previously served three years in prison for armed robbery and assault.
