A gunman on Friday pounced on a 41-year-old female supervisor, grabbing a $3.4 million payroll for Kissoondyal Enterprise Inc. Rice Mill which is located at Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
A Police report said that the woman left the rice mill at about 10:30 hours on Friday with four cheques valuing $3,463,798, to encash at a bank in Georgetown.
At the time, she was in the company of a female colleague. After encashing the cheques, the women returned to work in the same car they left in.
As the supervisor was about to exit the car, she was confronted by an unidentified male who was armed with a handgun. The armed bandit pointed the gun at her and demanded that she hand over a bag she was carrying.
The armed man then pulled the bag from her hand and made good his escape out of the compound in an unknown direction. The supervisor was also robbed of a driver’s licence, identification and NIS cards, a Covid-19 vaccine card, and $20,000 in cash.
Several persons in the area were contacted and questioned but no useful information was received. Checks for the suspect so far have proven futile. Police are continuing investigations
