GTI student dies days after beaten by gang at Route 45 Bus Park

A 19-year-old second-year student at the Government Technical Institute (GTI) died on Monday, three days after he was severely beaten by a gang of six males, three of whom were dressed in school uniform at the Route 45 Bus Park in Georgetown.

Dead is Rawle Samuel Grannum. They Break News understands that following the incident, the young man was admitted to a city hospital in an unconscious state.

Grannum, who died without regaining consciousness, is said to have sustained severe brain damage and internal bleeding. He was an only child and resided with his parents at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

As the Police continue to probe the teenager’s murder, a wanted bulletin was issued on Tuesday for former murder accused, 28-year-old Keron Taylor, otherwise known as “Laro”.

Police Headquarters listed the man’s last known address as Lot 83 Adelaide Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is being asked to contact the Police on 225-6940, 225-8196, 226 – 7476, 225 – 2317, 227 – 1149, or the nearest Police station

Taylor, in October 2020, was freed on a murder charge after a jury was directed by the trial Judge, who upheld a no-case submission, to return a formal not guilty verdict.

At the time, he had been on trial for the murder of Senassie Lewis who was shot 15 times back in 2015 at a bar in Albouystown, Georgetown.
