As part of the 182nd Anniversary Celebration of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Division #7 hosted a fitness walk on Friday morning within the municipality of Bartica.
The walk was held under the theme, “Persistence isn’t a giant leap, it’s one foot in front the other, keep walking.”
In attendance at the Friday occasion were Regional Commander Superintendent Dion Moore, Deputy Commander Assistant Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran, Regional Vice-Chair Kamal Persaud, police ranks, and residents from Bartica.
The walk commenced at around 06:00hrs at the Two Miles Primary School on the Bartica Potaro Road and concluded in front of the Bartica Police Station, 6:45hrs.
After the walk, popular gym instructor Richard Pickett took the participants through a series of stretching exercises to create awareness of the need to always-reducing post-workout pains.
At the conclusion of the activity, the Commander and the Deputy Commander expressed gratitude to all of the participants.
He referenced a David Thoreau quote, which stated that “An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.”
The Commander further added that walking is a healthy and rewarding habit and urged the police ranks to do any form of physical activity in order to keep their body fit and healthy.
