A 12-year-old student of the 3 Miles Secondary School, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) was found with a quantity of marijuana on Wednesday in a sock she was wearing.
Police said that the school’s acting head teacher received information that Grade 7 students were in class with marijuana.
As a result, she carried out a search and unearthed two zip lock transparent plastic bags containing cannabis concealed in the socks of a 12-year-old female student.
The student was questioned and she related that she got the cannabis from her friend, another 12-year-old female student of the said class who claimed that she stole it from her father.
The father was contacted and admitted that he had the cannabis since he smokes “weed”. They were all interviewed and sent away to return to the Childcare and Protection Agency.
