Five more COVID-19 deaths take July’s toll to 21


The Ministry of Health (MOH) today reported that five more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 497. 

The latest fatalities are a 65-year-old man from Region 10, a 79-year-old man from Region Four, a 67-year-old man from Region Three, an 86-year-old man from Region Four, and a 91-year-old female also from Region Four.

Meanwhile, the Ministry recorded 49 new cases of COVID-19 from the 530 tests conducted for July 11. These new cases were recorded in Region One, Region Two, Region Three, Region Four, Region Five, Region Six, and Region 10.

Presently, there are 11 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 76 in institutional isolation, and 1318 in home isolation.

Guyana has confirmed a total of 21,002 cases of COVID-19 after conducting 202,087 tests.  Noteworthily, 19,100 persons have since recovered.
