Brian Hutchins called ‘Blacka’, a fisherman, of Uitvlugt Side Line Dam, West Coast Demerara (WCD) is hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was chopped about his body.
A Police report said the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 22:00hrs at Anna Catherina Church Street, WCD. It was revealed that Hutchins had a misunderstanding with the suspect involving the mother of his child.
On the day in question, the fisherman was walking along Anna Catherina Church Street, WCD making his way home when the suspect approached him and dealt him several chops about his body with a cutlass.
The suspect then made good his escape on foot in an unknown direction. The victim then stopped a passing car and the driver assisted with taking him to the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
Hutchins was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital to undergo surgery. His condition is considered serious. Checks were made for the suspect but he was not located. Investigations are continuing
