Electrician caught on viral video assaulting his ‘children mother’ arrested

Kellon Albert, 36, the electrician of Melanie, East Coast Demerara who was seen on a viral video assaulting the mother of his children has been arrested by the Police.

Police Headquarters reported that Albert, the mother of his children, Lashawn Joseph, 22, a vendor, of Stevedore Housing Scheme, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and two other persons were involved in an altercation on Friday at around 08:00 h at Robb and Alexander Streets, Bourda, Georgetown.

Enquiries disclosed that on the date and time mentioned Albert went to Joseph’s stall to drop off his two children who had been staying with him for the past month.

Police said that when the man asked Joseph to collect the children she became annoyed, ran to her mother’s stall, and armed herself with a knife.  Kim Rampersaud, 49, a stallholder, took away the knife from her.

Albert who was sitting in his motorcar, upon seeing this, exited the vehicle, approached Rampersaud, and grabbed her hand in an attempt to relieve her of the knife. However, a scuffle ensued between them, during which Joseph armed herself with a piece of wood and dealt the father of her children several lashes.

Police said that the man “wrestle the knife from Rampersaud’s hand” after which he slapped her to her face. Joseph then armed herself with a spade which she used to damage the front and back windscreens and bonnet of Albert’s car. The man became annoyed and threw a brick at Joseph’s motorcar.

He also threw a brick at a car belonging to 21-year-old Lacquan Joseph. The windscreens of both vehicles were damaged. A statement from Police Headquarters said that Albert was arrested as investigations continue.
