An elderly woman, along with her daughter-in-law, is now missing after they went to pick up pension on July 2, 2021, at the Reliance Post office.
Missing is 67-year-old Leila Veronica Babolall of Gangaram Settlement, Berbice.
Speaking with They Break News, Babolall’s daughter Sharon Bhola explained that the elderly woman left home at about 08:30 hrs on the day in question with her daughter-in-law to go and uplift her pension at the Reliance Post Office.
“My mom’s sister went to visit her and take some stuff to her on Sunday the 4th, and then she got the sad news from my mom stepson, who is Laxmi husband, that my mom is missing since the day she left with Laxmi to go collect her pension,” Bhola said.
The distraught daughter said that after her aunt was informed of this development, a search party was launched. But the search for Babolall proved futile. As a result, a report was made to the Reliance Police Station.
Bhola said that when they questioned Persaud’s husband about what happened, he said that she is in a village at Berbice.
“I tried reaching out to all the family, and they blocked me. I am just worried about my mom. She is sickly. Laxmi’s husband said that she call him Friday gone and said that she was at someplace in Berbice and that she handed over my mom to my niece, but my niece said they are lieing and she is here with us in Berbice, searching for my mom too. If my niece collected my mom, wouldn’t she tell me about it? She won’t lie about not collecting my mom from Laxmi,” the tearful woman said.
The woman said she doesn’t know what is going on, but she wants to know where her mom is.
“The Police need to step out of their office and start picking these people up and let them find my mom because something isn’t right here,” Bhola said.
