A Diamond, Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man, was on Wednesday, arraigned on charges which alleged that he posted derogatory remarks about acting Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Attorney-at-Law Calvin Brutus.

Twenty-six-year-old Kevin Hiraman, a juice vendor, faced two charges.

It is alleged that between August 1 and December 12 at Georgetown, he used his mobile phone as a computer system and posted to TikTok several derogatory remarks about Hicken and Brutus with the intent to harass or cause substantial embarrassment to them.

After pleading not guilty, the accused was granted $50,000 bail on each of the two charges.

He has been ordered to report to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mitchell Caesar at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown pending the hearing and determination of his trial.

The Police prosecutor had objected to Hiraman being released on bail, citing that he intentionally made the videos to tarnish the reputation of the two senior Policemen. The objection was however overruled by the presiding Magistrate.
