A 29-year-old man of Lot 155 Rose Hall Town, Corentyne Berbice, was on Friday remanded to prison for several offences.

Joel Khan had appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at Albion Magistrate’s Court on October 15, 2021. Then, he was charged with five counts of threatening behaviour; four counts of abusive language; one count of unlawful wounding; and one count of simple larceny.

He allegedly committed the offences against Towona Low. At that court appearance, Khan pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on cash bail by the magistrate.

Subsequently, the magistrate was forced to issue an arrest warrant for Khan after he failed to attend court on several occasions. He was arrested on Thursday.

Khan was arraigned on Friday before Magistrate Singh who revoked his bail and remanded him to prison. The defendant is due back in court on February 8, 2022.
