Corentyne man hospitalised after being chopped

Fifty-one-year-old Alphonso Williams called ‘Lil Boy’  of Liverpool Village, Corentyne, Berbice is currently hospitalised after he was chopped to his left wrist and right.

A Police report said that the injuries were inflicted on him by a 31-year-old man. According to a Police release, the incident took place at around 16:30 hours on Wednesday.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim’s wife was verbally abused by the suspect who accused her of reporting him to the Police for the offence of noise nuisance.

A short while after, Williams approached the suspect and asked him about the verbal abuse meted out to his wife. 

A heated argument ensued between the men during which the suspect who was armed with a cutlass dealt the victim a chop to his left wrist and right hand. 

Williams was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and later referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. 

Ranks from the anti-crime patrol later arrested the suspect and escorted him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital. He too was examined and minor cuts were observed on his left eye and right foot. Investigations are ongoing.
