Chinese national (57) drowns while bathing in river


Police are currently investigating the alleged drowning of Sude Tui, 57, of China- a miner who was employed at Huixin Mining Company at Buck Hall, Essequibo River.  

The incident occurred on Wednesday between 15:00h to 15:30h on the Trail Boss Landing. They Break News understands that Sude Tui and one of his friends went down to the river to take a bath. 

They were wearing life jackets at the time. After about five minutes, Sude Tui and his friend came out of the water,  took off their life jackets, and went back into the river, and continued swimming.

Police Headquarters in a statement said that persons observed the two going “up and down” in the water. As a result, one of the persons who was standing on the landing jumped into the river and managed to save Sude Tui’s friend. 

Sude Tui went down under the water and never came up. The area was searched by several persons with a boat but the body was not found. The incident was reported to the Police at around 17:00h on the day in question. Investigations are ongoing.
