A 46-year-old labourer of Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast has been charged and remanded to prison for beating his ex-wife.
Gregory Benjamin was charged for the offence of assault which occurred on December 25, at Charity Squatting Area. The woman is 44 years of age.
The defendant appeared at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Police prosecutor objected to him being released on bail.
Those objections were upheld by the Magistrate who remanded Benjamin to prison until January 10, 2023
