A 58-year-old businessman and his wife were on Friday night robbed by two unidentifiable males.

The victims are Danny Sankar and Nanda Ramkissoon,40, both of Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje, Berbice. The incident occurred at approximately 19:35hours.

This publication understands that the victims left their business place which is located at Strand Road, New Amsterdam, in motor car PNN 7220 and journeyed home.

Upon arriving at their home, Sankar parked the vehicle on the bridge as Nanda exited the car to open the gate, leaving her handbag in the car.

As she was opening the gate, two suspects approached Sankar who was still in his vehicle and held him at gunpoint.

The suspects relieved him of all his valuables and drove away with his Burgundy Toyota Spacio car.

Other items that were stolen included one Samsung galaxy A51 cellphone, one Samsung Galaxy 7 cellphone valued at $70,000, one Samsung Note 8 cellphone valued at $90,000, one j7 cellphone valued at $59,000, one j5 cellphone valued at $55,000, a quantity of Digicel and GT&T phone cards, an undisclosed amount of cash, one gold chain valued $120,000, two gold rings valued $110,000, and one reading glasses valued $160,000.

A search was conducted for the suspects and just about half an hour after the incident, Sankar’s car was found abandoned in a street in Fort Ordinance, East Canje Berbice. Investigations are ongoing.

Sankar is not new to robbers as he would have been robbed at least four times before since he has been in the business arena for some 30 years.

In 2016, the businessman was robbed at his variety store in New Amsterdam, Berbice, and managed to chase the armed bandit and hit him with his vehicle but the suspect still managed to escape with a sum of cash.
