Businessman chopped during robbery at Tuschen

A 40-year-old businessman was on Thursday night chopped on his right arm with a cutlass during a robbery that occurred while he was closing his bar at Tuschen New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo 

They Break News understands that the victim was closing his bar when the suspect walked in and told him that he came to buy something to drink. 

The victim replied saying that the venue was closed. The suspect then pulled out a cutlass from his pants waist area and dealt the businessman a chop to his right hand. 

The suspect then pushed his hand into the victim’s pants pocket and took away his valuables which included an iPhone 6 valued at $45,000 and $30,000 in cash. 

The suspect then jumped the back fence and made good his escape in a northern direction. However, in the process, he dropped the mentioned articles which were recovered by the victim in his backyard.

The victim raised an alarm and the Police were summoned to the scene. The injured businessman was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was treated and sent away. 

Investigations are in progress.
