A 38-year-old minibus driver and a passenger of the bus he was driving were killed in an accident on Tuesday at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The dead driver has been identified as Andrew Albert, a former Policeman of Lamaha Park, Georgetown. The dead passenger is Annalisa Lackhan.
They Break News understands that Albert was proceeding at a fast rate of speed when he reportedly lost control of the bus and collided with another vehicle.
Albert and Lackhan, who was seated in the front passenger seat, died at the scene.
Several other persons who were travelling in the public transportation were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for treatment.
The route 44 (Georgetown-Mahaica) bus sustained extensive damage.
