Forty-one year-old Clarence Farley who was wanted for questioning over his wife’s death was arrested by Police on Thursday in Berbice. The man is currently being questioned about the death of 39-year-old teacher, Omega Ault.

The woman, whose decomposing body was found in her Crane, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home on May 27, died as a result of brain hemorrhage and multiple blunt force head trauma, an autopsy has confirmed.

The post mortem examination was done on the woman’s remains on Monday by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh. The body of the mother of one was thereafter handed over to relatives for burial.

The search for the teacher ended gruesomely after her decomposing body was found in the home she shared with her husband and their three-year-old son.

They Break News understands that the now dead woman’s brother, Kevin Ault, went to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station and reported that he had been calling his sister’s phone for the past two weeks and has been unable to get in contact with her.

Kevin told Police ranks that he then went to his sister’s home, and after calling out for her for some time and getting no response, he ventured inside the house where she was greeted by an unpleasant smell. He checked inside the front bedroom where he discovered his sister’s body in a state of decomposition.

He then reported the matter to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station after which a party of police ranks visited the scene. Enquiries disclosed that the teacher and her husband were having “problems” in their marriage.

Investigations have so far revealed that a few days before her body was found, her husband took their son to the home of his sister-in-law (wife’s sister) and told her that he was going into the backdam.

His car– a blue Toyota Spacio– which was found over the weekend at a lumber yard at Coverden, East Bank Demerara (EBD), has been impounded by the Police.

Investigations are ongoing.
