A 16-year-old is among four males who were arrested after Police found a quantity of marijuana hidden among some hollow blocks. Two of the other suspects are 19-years-old; the other is 39.
A Police report said that the discovery was made on Monday at around 16:15 hours at Tabatinga Village, Lethem, Rupununi. A party of Policemen on mobile patrol observed the four males acting suspiciously in a yard. The ranks searched their persons but found nothing illegal.
A further search around the area unearthed a green bulky plastic bag hidden among some hollow blocks. The bag was opened in their presence and found to contain a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis sativa.
They were told of the offence, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Lethem Police Station along with the suspected narcotics which weighed 110 grammes. The suspects were placed into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
